Each year the Norway House in Minneapolis transforms its Gallery into a magical Gingerbread Wonderland. The 2018 – 2019 season was the 5th year for this growing event. The Nomads team spent a January afternoon enjoying the creations crafted by a variety of Gingerbread artists of all ages.
TIP: Avoid attending the event on the weekends, during the week is best.
Anyone that has ever walked into a house during the winter holidays and was overwhelmed by the sweet aroma of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves are familiar with pepperkake. In America, we commonly refer to these seasonal treats as Gingerbread. This years event showcased 114 different Gingerbread designs.
While talking with the staff at the Norway House, we learned that they accept Gingerbread creations from all levels of experience, professional bakers, hobby cookie enthusiasts, families, and children. The color of the creation number signified the age of the creator(s), Black for adults and Red for the children.
TIP: Point out the Red numbered creations and ask your children what Gingerbread creation they would like to make.
