We believe that “Learning to help others is the most important lesson that a child can learn”. Helping others is part of the core of who we are, as part of that, we enjoy participating in activities that directly benefit others. This year, a few of us from the team were brave enough to handle the task of having fun with the Tonka Mud Run. This years event was the 5th year of the Mud Run, which is one of two annual fundraising events for Many Hands Many Meals. The funds raised are used to help provide meals locally and globally, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, they pack over 550,000 meals a year.
The Mud Run included splashing down a water slide, then through various obstacles which included but not limited to an army crawl through a tunnel, carry a log uphill, a plank walk, and we finally ended the race with taking a quick bath in the mud. The rest of the team walked to various locations on the course, cheering not only us on but also all the other participants.
The members of our group ended the day with big smiles and covered with mud from head to toe. Some of those that finished the race had plenty of mud on them, while others stayed clean, it was also a time to reflect and discuss the main reason for the Tonka Mud Run race, which is to help raise fund to make sure that people have a something as simple as food available to them.
Everyone agreed that Jackson was the one with the most mud, he also enjoyed that fact. Next years run will be on July 14th, 2018, we are planning on some of the other kids becoming first time racers. The atmosphere is perfect for both individuals and families to get outside, run, laugh and make an impact in peoples lives, both locally and globally.
How does your family help others?
